From the Pine Grove: A Mid-Summer Invitation

We’re in that sweet post–July 4th stretch where everything feels possible and nothing feels urgent.

And trust me—suggesting we think ahead to fall feels like a betrayal of summer’s ease.

But here’s the thing…

Most of us feel better in summer.

Why Summer Feels So Good (and What We Can Learn from It)

Summer naturally supports our health:

✨ Chronic aches and pains often improve

✨ Energy levels increase

✨ Sleep quality tends to be more restorative

✨ Increased circulation from warmth & movement✨ Enhanced vitamin D production from sunlight exposure✨ Fresh, nutrient-dense produce is abundant✨ Schedules slow down, stress softens

These factors work in harmony to reduce inflammation and support our body’s natural healing processes.

The Fall Freight Train is Coming

Then comes September—aka the real New Year.

Kids back to school.

Work ramping back up.

Schedules and chaos ad nauseam.

And just as you’re adjusting to all of this busyness, boom–we lose a full hour of daylight on November 1st.

(Stay tuned for a future newsletter topic on how brutal this is on our nervous systems!)

Those dreamy summer feelings & robust health gains start to feel further and further away…

So… What If You Got Ahead of It This Time?

What if you took all those insights from reading Sleep Drink Breathe and actually put them into place before the chaos hits?

Olive Says:

I don’t understand why humans always have to make everything so complicated.

“Plans” for health? Every day I wake up, stretch, eat my breakfast, go for walks, and nap in the sunshine.

Seems to be working pretty well for me. Maybe you humans could learn something from us dogs about living in the moment (like me napping on the laundry pile!)
